The Mediterranean Multi-Programme Mechanism (MMM) is taking a major step forward with the presentation of its Coordinated Call on Sustainable Tourism, a joint effort designed to strengthen cooperation, capitalisation and the transfer of results across the Mediterranean region.
The Coordinated Call will be officially presented during an online event on 16 June 2026, offering stakeholders the opportunity to discover this new funding opportunity and learn more about the cooperation framework developed by the MMM, now bringing together ten Interreg Programmes (eight of which are participating in the Coordinated Call).
The call reflects a common commitment among Mediterranean cooperation programmes to transforming tourism into a driver of inclusive growth, climate resilience and territorial cohesion. By promoting the reuse of existing solutions, it seeks to support more sustainable tourism models while mitigating environmental pressures and ensuring benefits for local communities.
Unlike traditional calls, projects funded under the Coordinated Call must build upon outputs already developed by projects from other participating Programmes. Applicants will be required to identify relevant outputs available in the MMM database and explain how they will be reused, adapted, transferred or scaled up in a new territorial context. This approach aims to accelerate the uptake of proven solutions and strengthen links between projects across the Mediterranean.
It is important to note that this is a coordinated call, not a joint call. While all participating Programmes share a common framework and objectives under the MMM, each Programme retains its own rules, budget, eligibility conditions and selection procedures. As a result, beneficiaries must apply to a single Interreg Programme participating in the Coordinated Call, following the specific requirements and timeline established by that Programme.
