Who we are:
Boreal Light is a Berlin-based SME that designs and manufactures solar water treatment and desalination systems. Our units turn seawater, brackish water and polluted water into clean water for irrigation, drinking and other uses.
Our systems run 100% on solar energy, without batteries (we store water instead of electricity), and disinfect with UV and ozone instead of chemicals. Every unit is monitored remotely in real time. Our systems can perfectly operate in remote and off-grid communities.

– Ready-to-deploy units
– Pilot installation, operation and training of local operators
– Real-time monitoring data from all pilots, for a common transnational testing protocol
– A training module on operating solar water treatment, for the Euro-MED Academy
– A near-zero carbon footprint for the pilot operation
Topics where we fit:
– Innovative Sustainable Economy, reducing water pollution in the agri-food sector: treatment and reuse of agri-food process water or polluted agricultural water for irrigation (SO 2.6 / SO 1.1)
– Green Living Areas, urban agriculture: irrigation water from brackish or polluted sources for urban and peri-urban food production
What we are looking for
A public lead partner, and pilot sites with a real water-quality problem (saline or brackish groundwater, agri-food effluent, polluted surface water) in Euro-MED countries. As an EU-based company we can join as a co-funded partner.
