The Sustainability LCA Group is a research team within the Department of Environmental Science and Policy at the University of Milan, specialising in the sustainability assessment of products, processes and services.
We apply a Life Cycle Thinking approach, integrating Life Cycle Assessment (LCA), Life Cycle Costing (LCC) and Social Life Cycle Assessment (S-LCA) to assess the environmental, economic and social dimensions of sustainability throughout the life cycle. Our work includes ex-ante assessments to guide the design and development of innovative solutions, and ex-post assessments to evaluate implemented solutions and identify opportunities for improvement.
We combine these methodologies with Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) to synthesise and communicate findings, compare alternatives and support decision-making, while facilitating stakeholder and policymaker engagement.
We welcome collaboration with universities, research organisations, businesses and public institutions in national and international research projects involving innovative products, processes and services. We contribute expertise in scenario development, integrated sustainability assessment and decision support, from early-stage design through to implementation and evaluation.
