Dejan BogdanParticipantCEROP (Slovenia), together with project development partners, is preparing a project proposal for the 8th Call of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, under the Mission “Protecting, Restoring and Valorising the Natural Environment and Heritage”, SO 2.7, with a focus on Biodiversity Resilience and Biodiversity Management.
The project will address a practical challenge faced by protected and ecologically valuable areas where regular biodiversity-management interventions – such as mowing, shrub clearance, invasive vegetation removal, wetland/riparian vegetation management or similar conservation measures – generate significant quantities of residual biomass. The project will test and validate an innovative, decentralised approach for improving the sustainable management of such biomass and its integration into biodiversity-management practices.
We are primarily looking for pilot partners from Greece, Spain, Portugal and France, although organisations from other eligible Euro-MED countries (regions) are also welcome to express interest, particularly if they provide specialised scientific or technical expertise relevant to biodiversity management, biomass treatment, environmental monitoring, biochar, soils, emissions or related fields.
Suitable pilot partners could include:
– protected-area or Natura 2000 management authorities;
– research and educational organisations;
– municipalities or regional/local public authorities;
– environmental or biodiversity agencies;
– public land-management organisations;
– agricultural or forestry organisations with direct biodiversity-management responsibilities.Important requirement for pilot partners: organisations must have the capacity to implement pilot activities, meaning that they should either own/manage the relevant land or be able to secure an agreement with the land owner. Pilot territories should also be linked to an existing biodiversity strategy, conservation priority or ecosystem-management plan.
Interested organisations are invited to briefly provide:
– organisation profile and relevant experience;
– proposed pilot territory/site;
– ownership/management status of the pilot site;
– relevant strategy, conservation priority or management plan.Please send expressions of interest by 9 October 2026 to:
– Dr. Tanja Bagar – tanja.bagar@cerop.si
– Dr. Bernard Goršak – bernard.gorsak@gmail.com
– Dejan Bogdan – dejan@najprojekt.siSelected organisations will be contacted for further discussion on the project concept, pilot requirements and possible partnership role.
