Bora BiturkuParticipantThe Municipality of Kavajë, Albania, is looking to join a consortium as a Project Partner / Receiving Territory under Interreg Euro-MED Call 7 – Mediterranean Multi-Programme Mechanism (MMM) Coordinated Call on Sustainable Tourism.
Located on the Adriatic coast, the Municipality of Kavajë includes the important and rapidly developing tourism destinations of Golem and Qerret. During the peak tourism season, the coastal area experiences increased pressures related to resource consumption, waste management, mobility, local infrastructure, environmental protection and sustainable destination management.
For Call 7, the Municipality proposes the Golem–Qerret coastal tourism area as a receiving territory for the transfer, adaptation and uptake of proven sustainable tourism solutions and outputs developed under eligible MMM programmes.
We are particularly interested in transferable solutions related to:
sustainable and climate-resilient coastal tourism;
water efficiency and sustainable resource management;
circular economy and tourism-related waste reduction;
sustainable destination governance;
green and digital transition of tourism destinations;
visitor and tourism-flow management;
stakeholder and community engagement.The Municipality of Kavajë can contribute through local institutional coordination, stakeholder mobilisation, cooperation with hotels and tourism businesses, territorial data collection, local testing and demonstration activities, monitoring, policy uptake and replication.
We are particularly interested in connecting with Lead Partners and organisations that already have an eligible and proven MMM output/result to transfer and are currently looking for a Mediterranean municipality or coastal destination as a receiving territory.
The Municipality is also open to cooperation with public authorities, universities and research centres, tourism and development agencies, destination management organisations, business-support organisations, NGOs and other eligible entities from the Interreg Euro-MED cooperation area.
