Vanya HristovaParticipantHaskovo Municipality would like to join a consortium as a project partner.
Within the framework of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme and the Natural and Cultural Resources Mission, the Municipality expresses its interest in joining an existing consortium or collaborating with a Lead Partner to develop a joint project proposal.
In the context of the Interreg Euro-MED 8th Call (and Interreg Danube), Haskovo Municipality is highly motivated to act as a reliable local authority partner for testing and validating new solutions. Our specific interests include:
• Providing real-life natural and urban environments for testing practical approaches to biodiversity conservation, ecosystem resilience and nature-based solutions
• Offering Kenana Park, a significant larger green area in Haskovo, as a potential pilot environment for biodiversity conservation, habitat improvement, ecological monitoring and sustainable management
• Exploring approaches for mapping, monitoring and protecting biodiversity in Kenana Park and other municipal green areas
• Exploring opportunities to strengthen ecological connections between Kenana, urban green spaces and other natural areas within the municipality
• Regeneration of an existing pocket park in poor condition, with a focus on biodiversity enhancement, climate-resilient planting, new trees and improved habitat value
• Exploring how smaller urban green spaces can function as stepping stones for biodiversity and ecological connectivity within the urban environment
• Interest in testing native and climate-resilient planting approaches, habitat creation and other nature-based measures adapted to local conditions
• Exploring ways to combine biodiversity conservation with responsible public access, recreation and environmental education
• Providing the urban river and adjacent municipal areas as an additional environment for exploring green corridors, biodiversity and ecosystem connectivity
• Interest in innovative digital and citizen-science tools for biodiversity monitoring and increasing awareness of Haskovo’s natural heritage
• Engaging local stakeholders, citizens, schools and vulnerable groups in biodiversity awareness, monitoring and evaluation of pilot actions
• Looking for partners with technical expertise, methodologies and tested solutions in biodiversity monitoring, habitat restoration, nature-based solutions and sustainable management of urban and peri-urban natural areas
• Aligning tested approaches with Haskovo’s SECAP and other relevant municipal strategies to support long-term integration, scalability and future investment
• Sharing lessons learned and contributing to cross-border knowledge transfer on biodiversity conservation, urban nature and ecosystem resilience within the Euro-MED and Danube macro-regionsHaskovo has accumulated extensive experience in implementing pilot actions and projects related to energy efficiency, urban development, and climate adaptation. Key reference projects include:
• CARE-GET Project: Funded under the European Urban Initiative (EUI-IA 2nd Call).
• 100 Intelligent Cities Challenge (ICC): Active participation in the EU initiative guiding cities towards green and digital transformation.
• Transition to Climate-Resilient Communities: Funded by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism (Climate Programme, Contract No. BGENVIRONMENT 4.004 0013).
• National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP): Implementation of extensive energy efficiency measures and sustainable urban infrastructure upgrades. Please contact us at:
