Nelson GomesParticipantFundação INATEL is a Portuguese public-interest foundation established in 1935, with 90 years of experience in social tourism, culture, sports, leisure, social inclusion and territorial development.
Operating across mainland Portugal and the islands, Fundação INATEL has a strong nationwide presence through 26 local branches, 15 hotel units, sports facilities, Teatro da Trindade INATEL, a Training Academy and a Qualifica Centre. Its network reaches approximately 250,000 individual members and 3,500 collective members (Centres for Culture and Sports – CCDs), providing the Foundation with a significant capacity to engage citizens, local communities, organisations and stakeholders across different territories.
Fundação INATEL has extensive experience in implementing publicly funded programmes and initiatives, particularly in tourism, culture, sports, training and capacity building, digital inclusion, intergenerational and intercultural dialogue and social inclusion.
The Foundation has a particular commitment to social, sustainable and local tourism. Through its network of hotel units and territorial structures, INATEL promotes connections with local stakeholders, including municipalities, business associations, development organisations and community-based cultural and sports organisations, contributing to more sustainable and cohesive territorial development.
What can Fundação INATEL bring to a consortium?
Fundação INATEL can contribute as a territorial implementation, testing and community engagement partner, offering:
• Pilot and demonstration environments through its territorial network, hotel units and other facilities;
• Implementation and testing of solutions contributing to more sustainable territories and communities;
• Experience in social, sustainable and local tourism and its connection with territorial development;
• Engagement of citizens, communities and local stakeholders in the testing and uptake of innovative approaches;
• Cooperation with municipalities, local organisations, associations and other territorial actors;
• Training, capacity building and awareness-raising, supporting behavioural and organisational change;
• Initiatives connecting the green and digital transitions with social inclusion and community participation;
• Organisation of participatory activities and initiatives involving different generations and communities;
• Dissemination, transfer and replication of project results through its extensive nationwide network.
Fundação INATEL is particularly interested in joining projects that contribute to the development of a more sustainable, inclusive and green economy, where innovation and the green transition can generate tangible benefits for territories, organisations and citizens.
We are particularly interested in initiatives where our territorial network, infrastructures and direct connection with communities can provide real-life environments for testing, demonstrating and disseminating innovative and sustainable solutions.
Fundação INATEL would be pleased to explore potential synergies and discuss its contribution as a Partner within a transnational consortium.
