The municipality of Travnik, Bosnia and Herzegovina, would like to join a consortium preparing a proposal under the MMM coordinated call: transfer projects.
I believe our destination could bring something slightly different to an Interreg Euro-MED capitalisation project on sustainable tourism.
Travnik has a potentially very interesting project opportunity.
Within the same municipal territory, we have two very different tourism assets: a historic town shaped by centuries of cultural heritage, and Vlašić, a major mountain destination for skiing, hiking and nature-based tourism. The challenge is not simply how to attract more visitors, but how to connect these two tourism economies, manage visitor pressure in the historic centre, extend the tourism season and ensure that the value generated by tourism reaches a wider part of the destination.
This is where we believe capitalisation can become more than simply “transferring good practices”.
We are interested in taking existing Euro-MED solutions and asking a practical question: can they actually work in a destination where cultural heritage, mountain tourism, SMEs, local communities and seasonal visitor flows all have to be managed as one system?
Travnik is already moving in this direction. Sustainable tourism is a priority of our Municipal Development Strategy 2022–2027, while we are developing digital approaches to tourism and heritage interpretation, including VR and other technologies that could help us tell the story of the destination differently and, more importantly, influence where and how visitors experience it.

We are particularly interested in solutions related to:
• digital destination management and visitor-flow monitoring;
• VR/AR and digital interpretation of cultural heritage;
• connecting urban heritage with rural and mountain tourism;
• reducing seasonal and spatial concentration of visitors; and
• using technology not simply to promote tourism but to manage it more sustainably.

We have also already screened the relevant Euro-MED outputs and looked at how they could potentially be applied in Travnik. So we are not approaching you simply with a request to “join a consortium”. We are looking for a project where there is a genuine methodological fit and where Travnik can contribute a useful real-world testing and transfer environment.
From our side, we can bring an engaged municipality, access to relevant local stakeholders, a combination of cultural and nature-based tourism assets, and a team experienced in developing and implementing EU-funded projects and working within international partnerships.
If you are currently building a consortium — or already have one and are looking for a destination that could add a different perspective to the capitalisation process — I would be very interested in having a short conversation.

Sometimes the most useful pilot is not the easiest one.
I believe Travnik could be an interesting one.

I am writing on behalf of the Center for Development of the Pelagonija Planning Region (CDPPR), from Bitola, Macedonia, to express our interest in establishing cooperation with organisations looking for reliable and experienced partners for Interreg Euro-MED projects, particularly within the field of sustainable tourism and related areas of regional development.

CDPPR is a public institution for regional development, established by the nine units of local self-government comprising the Pelagonija Planning Region. As a regional development institution, we work closely with municipalities, public institutions, local stakeholders, businesses and civil society organisations to identify and address regional development needs and translate them into concrete projects and actions.

Our responsibilities include preparation and implementation of development projects, coordination of regional development activities, support to local communities, promotion of tourism and cultural heritage, and activities related to civil protection, resilience and sustainable territorial development.

CDPPR has substantial experience in project development, partnership building and project implementation under various national and international funding instruments. While Euro-MED would be a new programme framework for our institution, we have practical experience with Interreg cross-border cooperation, including project preparation, partnership coordination, financial and administrative management, implementation of activities, communication and reporting.

Our experience also includes projects and initiatives related to sustainable and rural tourism, cultural and natural heritage, local economic development, environmental protection, climate resilience and capacity building of local stakeholders. Through our institutional position, we can also facilitate access to the municipalities and relevant stakeholders across the Pelagonija region and support the testing, adaptation and territorial transfer of innovative solutions and good practices.

For the upcoming Interreg Euro-MED opportunities, including the Mediterranean Multi-Programme Mechanism (MMM) and Sustainable Tourism, we are particularly interested in joining partnerships where our regional expertise, territorial network and capacity to implement pilot actions can provide concrete added value.
