I am Dr Ourania S. Kotsiou, Pulmonologist and Associate Professor of Human Pathophysiology–Pulmonology, and Director of the Human Pathophysiology Laboratory at the University of Thessaly.
We are very interested in exploring cooperation with the Municipality of Vratsa, as your proposed focus on green urban solutions, healthier public spaces, nature-based solutions and climate resilience aligns very well with our interest in the health and wellbeing dimension of the built and urban environment.
Our Department could contribute the scientific health assessment component, particularly through:
development of health and wellbeing KPIs;
assessment of respiratory and environmental-health outcomes;
evaluation of vulnerable population groups;
assessment of environmental exposures, air quality and thermal comfort in relation to health and wellbeing;
pre/post evaluation of real-life pilot interventions; and
capacity building and dissemination of evidence-based healthy-environment practices.
We believe this could add a strong human-health and evidence-based evaluation dimension to green urban pilot interventions and complement the Municipality’s expertise in sustainable urban development and green infrastructure.
