Hidroelektrarne na Spodnji Savi d.o.o. (HESS for short) is a Slovenian hydroelectric power company with 52 employees. Its core mission is to facilitate and promote the construction of new hydroelectric power plants (7 in total) and to engage in electricity generation that is sustainable, reliable, competitive, and environmentally friendly. HESS currently ranks among the biggest developers of renewable energy sources both in Slovenia and in the wider region with the plan to generate a significant proportion of electricity from renewables, allowing the Republic of Slovenia to deliver on its commitments to the EU in terms of renewable energy sources.
In the next two years we also plan to establish The Renewable Energy Centre (REC), dedicated to raising awareness and interactions between responsible environmental, spatial and energy planning and the management and promotion of transitioning to a low carbon society. The centre will be equipped with state-of-the-art virtual reality visualisation technologies. In addition to all renewable resources presented (hydro, wind, solar, hydrogen) it will also focus on other social responsibility-related topics, such as environmental protection, drinking water, flood safety, agriculture, recreation, a pleasant living environment, as well as tourism. The content will include interesting journeys through the habitats of rare local animal and plant species, which were taken care of during the construction of a chain of hydroelectric power plants on the lower Sava river. The Renewable Energy Centre will be a self-sufficient facility, using nothing but renewable energy sources. It will also feature new electricity storage and production technologies. Its mission is based on awareness, education, research and integration. The centre constitutes a crossroads of open dialogue and the search for common solutions and improvements. It will serve to bring together the economy, the education system, local communities, associations and other interest groups. Visitors will be more than just observers – they will be active creators of the content, ideas and solutions.
We are looking to partner up with a consortium that would incorporate our plans for the centre and its results to a wider EU project.

Specifically, I read in the partners’ search that the REC you aim to develop will be equipped with state-of-the-art virtual reality visualisation technologies, we can be responsible for that part of the project.
You can see – for instance – one of the research projects we are carrying out with the cooperation of Italian Universities and Museums, AUGUSTUS (www.augustusgame.it), in which we are developing an immersive serious game to explore historical and archaeological aspects of 4 UNESCO sites in Sicily.I would like to discuss our potential cooperation further, can you please contact me at s.merlo@redraion.com?
I look forward to hearing from you.Kind Regards,
