World Vision is an international humanitarian, community development and advocacy organization. In Albania, World Vision began working in 1999 in response to the Kosovar refugee crisis. For two decades, our work has focused on development and long-term support for children, young people and families most in need. Our work affects the lives of about 50,000 children in 18 municipalities.
We support and work to empower children, families and communities most in need. Social protection and inclusion, youth activism and economic development opportunities for the most needy families are the focus of our work. World Vision is committed to bringing sustainable change and increased well-being to children and families in Albania.
Overview of Priority Sectors
At World Vision Albania, our technical approaches, contributing to Education and Life Skills for children and youth, Social Protection and Inclusion, and Livelihoods, are at the core of our mission. These approaches are part of a holistic and integrated strategy that emphasizes empowerment, community engagement, and sustainable development. At the heart of our mission is empowering children, adolescents, and communities to become agents of transformation.Through models like IMPACT+ for youth development, Child Protection & Advocacy (CP&A) for child well-being, and Citizen Voice and Action (CVA) for community engagement, along with initiatives in Gender Equality and Social Inclusion, Disaster Risk Reduction, Faith and Development, Advocacy, and Environmental Stewardship & Climate Action, we address the multifaceted challenges faced by communities.

World Vision Albania empowers children and adolescents to thrive, preparing them for life’s challenges and nurturing their potential as agents of transformation in their communities. IMPACT+ is World Vision Albania’s transformative adolescent program that empowers young people as they transition into adulthood. The program includes weekly club meetings and Community Service-Learning Projects (CSLP), which serve as practical learning experiences while promoting positive social change in communities.IMPACT+ fosters Competency, Character, and Contribution—equipping youth, especially the most vulnerable, with vital life skills, knowledge, positive identity, and empowerment to become active citizens. This approach encourages child participation, sharing power with adults in decision-making, and promotes holistic development for a successful transition into adulthood.
Supporting and collaborating with schools, municipalities, and the community is at the core of our work, ensuring that key actors like teachers and municipality representatives have the capacity to help vulnerable children reach their potential.
In 2023, we hosted the Youth Festival for the seventh year, with over 100 young participants. They raised issues like youth employability and proposed solutions, including:
Investment in career orientation and paid internships.
Expansion of mobile employability services to reach vulnerable groups.
Building digital and green economy skills among youth.
Comprehensive packages for youth employment, including online certified training.

The Child Protection & Advocacy Project Model (CP&A) implemented by World Vision Albania focuses on mobilizing collective action among formal and informal child protection actors within the community to create a stronger protective environment for children. This approach empowers local communities to analyze risks to children’s safety and implement evidence-based solutions addressing the root causes of violence against children. The CP&A model adopts a systems approach, recognizing the interconnectedness of laws, policies, services, coordination among stakeholders, accountability mechanisms, and the resilience of children to protect themselves and others. At the family level, the program strengthens relationships through the Celebrating Families model, a faith-based core project model aimed at fostering positive, caring relationships for children to thrive.
In 2023, World Vision Albania joined the European Association of Service Providers for Persons with Disabilities (EASPD) to share experiences and best practices with European partners, promoting equal opportunities for children and youth with disabilities.
Livelihoods & Environmental Stewardship
Through strategies like enhancing agricultural production and promoting financial literacy, World Vision Albania’s Livelihood approach seeks to foster self-efficacy and partnerships for market access, empowering families to increase their income and resilience. We emphasize gender equality, social inclusion, and financial literacy, equipping families with the tools and knowledge needed to uplift their communities. In response to the urgent global concern of climate change, particularly in the Mediterranean region and Albania, a study was conducted to understand the perceptions and preparedness of children and young people in Albania regarding climate change. The study involved qualitative and quantitative methods, gathering insights from 315 children, adolescents, and young adults, and conducting 17 in-depth interviews.
