The Faculty of Architecture is the oldest institution of higher education in Croatia combining instruction and research in the
fields of architecture and urban design. It has celebrated 100 years of continuous architectural education in 2019. It has 860
students, over 100 teaching staff, 4 departments and 18 sections. It’s departments are: the Department of Architectural
Design, Department of Urban and Physical Planning, Department of Architectural Technology and Building Science and
Department of History and Theory of Architecture. Faculty also organize international summer workshops such as the architectural summer schools in Motovun in Istria, Pičan in Istria and Pučišća (Island of Brač). The summer school in Motovun has an international staff and has been a part of our regular program for more than 30 years.

Research of Faculty is based on integral understanding of inventive and pragmatic demands that constitute architectural and urban
planning issues. Research is directed towards a realistic, problem-solving approach within a broader cultural and social
framework. Research studies include history of art and architecture, sustainability, circular economy, low carbon and energy efficiency matters, air quality, sustainable tourism, means of architectural representation and recent investigations in architectural and urban design.
