Coastal Towns Association is an italian network of 7 municipalities (120,000 inhabitants) located on the adriatic coast and representing the most important tourist destination in the Abruzzo Region. The area is characterized by environmental and cultural assets: the Cerrano Protected Marine Area (National Park), The Borsacchio Nature Reserve, the Biotope of Martinsicuro, medieval coastal watchtowers, rural and fishing traditions, religious heritage, small villages.
Currently, the association is:
– developing an integrated strategy for digital and green transition within the Intelligent Cities Challenge, an initiative promoted by the EU Commission gathering more than 100 european cities;
– carrying out with other adriatic cities the A_GreeNet project funded by the LIFE EU programme in order to adapt adriatic cities to climate change through reforestation, microforestation, soil recovering,…
The Coastal Towns Association is interested in joining Euromed consortia as a partner offering its experiences in sustainable development and a valuable network of partners, both at European and national level. Topics of interest: adaptation and mitigation to climate change, green infrastructures, river restoration, urban planning, sustainable mobility, cultural heritage, food and gastronomy, rural traditions, valorization of protected areas, coastal erosion.
