The Interreg Euro-MED programme wants to involve young people as much as possible. Over the last few months, two trainees and two IVYs have been working with the JS team. Let’s meet them and ask them about their experiences.
OUR TWO TRAINEES
Esther
Esther is our intern within the project unit. She is studying foreign languages and international relations in Lille and spent her two months internship with the programme.
“I am very grateful to have been in such a welcoming team at Interreg Euro-MED. I have had the opportunity to observe a little of every unit and especially the project unit which has enriched my experience. To see how my studies convert into real situations during events in Marseille and online was fascinating. I am thankful for this internship from which I have learned a lot and is going to be helpful in my future professional life” said Esther.
Andrej
Also, for two months, from April to June, our IT manager Florian has been supported by Andrej. Andrej is originally from the Republic of Northern Macedonia, but he studies computer science in Marseille. During his internship, he mainly worked on the programme’s website. He created several widgets on the website dashboard used by the Joint Secretariat and the Monitoring Committee members. Florian wishes Andrej had stayed longer to help him out more!
The JS welcomed two IVYs in January, do you remember them?
They supported the communication unit for 6 months in different tasks. What do they think about their experiences?
Solène
As her volunteering experience is coming to an end, Solène tells us: “How can I sum up the last 5/6 months? First, I learnt a lot about the Euro-MED programme and cooperation in general. I have been able to take part in various events and tasks that broadened my horizons. I met people from different backgrounds and saw their involvement in the running of the programme. Last but not least, Marseille and life at the office also made my experience very enjoyable.”
Fahrettin
Fahrettin just finshed his volunteering experience: “These past six months have been a great opportunity to learn more about how territorial cooperation works in real-life and the importance of right communication strategies to construct a well conversation between regions. I would like to thank the JS for this opportunity and I definitely suggest any future IVY volunteers or interns to come here to Marseille and experience it first-hand.”

From the Joint Secretariat side, we enjoyed the enthousiasm and fresh ideas and visions from young people as sometimes our heads are too “involved” into technical work. We definitely recommend Programmes and projects to take youth on board.
