Bridging the seas

Interreg Euro-MED contribution to EU priorities

19 NOVEMBER 2025, Varna (Bulgaria)

The Interreg Euro-MED Programme is organising a conference providing a platform for reflection, knowledge exchange, and strategic planning among stakeholders of the Programme.

Consisting on three roundtables, the event will focus on:

  • Implementation of the Programme as a starting point to illustrate its contributions to EU priorities ;
  • Collective reflections on the future of cohesion policy post-2027.
  • Potential for increased synergies across the territorial scope of the Programme.

As a transnational programme, Interreg Euro-MED involves 14 countries of the Northern shore of the Mediterranean and adjacent territories. Its extensive geographical and strategic scope – from the Atlantic coast to the shores of the Black Sea – includes EU Member States as well as candidate countries. It also articulates with many other Interreg programmes, including CBCs, and covers partly the territory of 3 macro-regional strategies (EUSALP, EUSAIR & EUSDR), the sea basin strategy (West-MED) as well as territories of the Common Agenda of the Black Sea.

‘This event is a great opportunity to embody the spirit of European territorial cooperation by looking beyond borders and fostering mutual understanding to deliver coordinated responses to our shared Interreg Euro-MED challenges. Our success will be measured by our ability to promote the reuse and transfer of the most effective solutions. This will be the key to achieving even more open and integrated cooperation, instead of giving in to the temptation to focus only on ourselves.’ – Curzio CERVELLI, Head of Interreg Euro-MED Joint Secretariat.

‘Bridging the Seas’ will demonstrate how cooperation programmes such as ours enable territories to address shared challenges together. The event will focus specifically on our partners from IPA countries. We will reflect on the progress made over the last 15 years, during which time we contributed to lay the groundwork for future EU accession and paved the way for a stronger, more united Euro-Mediterranean region.” – Sophie SCARVELIS, Head of Project Unit, Interreg Euro-MED Joint Secretariat.

Participation by invitation only.
