VeGAL (Eastern Veneto Development Agency) possesses extensive, proven competencies in managing and implementing EU-funded cooperation projects, with a solid track record of over 30 Interreg projects since 1994 across various programming cycles (including Interreg Italy-Slovenia, Italy-Croatia, Central Europe, and ADRION). As a development agency acting as a local catalyst, VeGAL combines deep territorial expertise with a robust public-private network, operating effectively across coastal, lagoon, and rural areas.
VeGAL’s core expertise directly aligns with the objectives of this call:
– Capitalisation of EU results & governance: VeGAL has significant experience in capitalising on cross-border methodologies. Notably, as Lead Partner or Partner in projects such as PRONACUL (Adrion), POSEIDONE and ENGREEN 1 (Italy-Slovenia), VeGAL has developed expertise in sustainable tourism action plans, green infrastructure management, and participatory governance models—direct inputs for WP1 (Activity 1.2, 1.3) and WP3 (Activity 3.1).
– Sustainable tourism, mobility & green infrastructures: VeGAL has successfully designed and implemented strategic territorial plans for sustainable mobility and intermodality (e.g., INTERBIKE I, II, III; ADRIONCYCLETOUR) and led cultural-heritage initiatives (PRIMIS, WALKofPEACE, GOV4PEACE, BEROOTS). This expertise ensures high quality in mapping cultural/natural sites (Act 1.3) and designing inclusive Nature- and Culture-Based Tourism Experiences (Act 1.4).
– Coastal & marine ecosystem management: as the lead entity of the FLAG Veneziano, VeGAL has extensive experience in sustainable coastal economy, marine litter collection, and fishery tourism (e.g., FISHING FOR FUTURE, ECO-PESCATORE, AWASTER). This background directly supports pilot activities in coastal/lagoon environments (such as Caorle, Bibione, Laguna Nord di Venezia, and Burano).
