The Marine Remote Sensing Group (MRSG) at the University of the Aegean has conducted research on the exploration, analysis and visualization of satellite and UAV data in coastal environments since September 2014. Over the years, we have coordinated and participated in numerous European and national projects related to the sustainable blue economy, marine environmental protection and coastal resilience. We combine state‑of‑the‑art algorithms with in‑situ measurements to develop innovative methods, technologies and products for the visualization and analysis of marine geospatial information. Our research team has extensive expertise in marine remote sensing, including:
– oil spill detection
– oceanographic phenomena identification
– seagrass mapping
– coastal bathymetry
– coastline detection
– beach caring capacity estimations
We develop Earth Observation solutions that integrate satellite imagery, UAV data, artificial intelligence and in‑situ measurements to monitor and understand marine and coastal environments. Through international collaborations and multidisciplinary research, MRSG delivers methodologies that support sustainable ocean governance, policy and innovation. Please note that our BLUEQ outputs (Interreg IPA ADRION) are currently being implemented and are not yet included in the MMM Common Catalogue of Outputs. Consequently, we can participate as a “taker” by building a proposal on eligible outputs from another project that is already included in the MMM Common Catalogue.
