Interreg Euro-MED at UNOC 2025

The Interreg Euro-MED Programme will participate in the 3rd edition of UNOC 2025, which will be held in Nice from June 9 to 13.

10 June | Mediterranean Day

Co-organised by the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), the Varda Group, the Région Sud, and the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs, this day will highlight initiatives advancing sustainability in the Mediterranean.

Panel 1 – Mobilising Blue Finance
Ms. Sophie Scarvelis, the Head of Project Unit at the Interreg Euro-MED Programme Joint Secretariat, will present the Programme’s contributions to the blue economy since 2014, with a specific focus on the BLUE ECOSYSTEM project.

10 June | Bridging Natural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism: Euro-MED Perspectives on Marine and Coastal Policies

18:00 – 19:00 | Green Zone – “The Big Blue Southern Pavilion for the Mediterranean” | Palais des Expositions “The Whale”

This side event will present the Natural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism Missions of the Interreg Euro-MED Programme, with a policy-oriented focus on marine and coastal governance challenges. Thematic projects from the “Région Sud” will share their contributions to policy recommendations and real-world implementation.

By taking part in UNOC 2025, we aim to contribute to collective efforts by sharing experiences and encouraging cooperation for a more sustainable and resilient Mediterranean, alongside our partners and peers.

11 June | Small Islands. Blue Circular Hubs for a 100% Renewable Future

12:15 – 13:30 CET | UNOC3 – Room 2, Blue Zone | Event ID 67
This high-level event co-organised by the United Nations Department of Economic and Social Affairs and the Greening the Islands Foundation, partner of the Interreg Euro-MED Dialogue4Tourism project, will showcase the pioneering role of small islands in transitioning to circular blue economies and 100% renewable energy.
