Development and Training Centre for Metal Industry – Metal Centre Čakovec (MCČ) is an institution for research and development in the field of technologies and processes in the metal industry, founded to encourage high-tech development in the region and beyond, conducting top-quality research, strengthening scientific excellence and increasing the competitiveness of metal and related industries. MCČ operates a modern research facility, enabling knowledge and technology transfer.
MCČ carries out knowledge transfer and technology transfer activities and offers services in additive manufacturing (FDM and SLM 3D printing technology), 3D metrology, and the Internet of Things.
MCČ employs a triple-helix model, collaborating with research, industry, and public sectors, which contributes to solving the development problems and strengthening regional competitiveness.
The team comprises scientists (PhD and master’s level), engineers, and associates with expertise in technical and natural sciences, possessing extensive experience in 3D modeling, additive manufacturing, and 3D printing of polymers and metals. Professional staff gained their qualifications by working previously at other scientific research institutions, participating in various projects, professional training abroad, and through cooperation and work in the economy and with entrepreneurs.
MCČ’s activities include scientific research, contributions to vocational and higher education, and industry collaboration based on research and technology transfer. This addresses the rapidly growing need for systematic education of future experts in additive manufacturing (AM), a key technology of the 21st century and a pillar of the 4th industrial revolution.
Through European mobility programs, MCČ staff continuously develop their skills for quality adult education. This, in turn, enables the center to provide high-quality, market-driven AM training, leveraging its resources and expertise. Consequently, MCČ is a key institution for vocational education and training in additive manufacturing in this region of Croatia, offering modern, well-structured, and market-responsive programs.
