As consulting firm, we are currently supporting 2 italian networks of public and private organisations (50 municipalities, national and regional parks, NGO, universities,…), located in rural and mountain areas and engaged in rivers contracts, an innovative methodology for freshwater management based on the active participation of local actors widely applied in some Eu countries (France, Italy, Spain, Belgium,…).
Starting from this experience, we intend to foster, share and consolidate NBS knowledge and its practical demonstration in generating multiple water-related benefits (water quantity, quality and risks simultaneously) for river ecosystems.
NbS are fundamental for reaching the EU Green Deal objectives (including the target of reconnecting at least 25,000 km of rivers in Europe by 2030); delivering socio-economic benefits including biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation; and engaging economic sectors in restoration. Such solutions (rewetting, floodplain reconnection, reforestation to store carbon, natural water retention measures, riparian restoration, dam removal and reopening of old canals or rivers to increase resilience to heatwaves) should, therefore, be cost-effective while providing environmental, social and economic benefits, helping to build resilience and, at the same time, making use of multiple ecosystem services that they can bring.02/08/2022 at 16:56 #9336Sonia MerloParticipantDear Mauro,

– Development of top quality Video Games, Serious Games and Gamification applications.
– Experience in project dissemination and exploitation.I have seen in the Interreg Euro-MED portal that you have published a partners’ search for the project you are developing on Improving river ecosystems with Nature Based Solutions, in which we would like to participate by bringing our expertise in the digitalisation of any form of cultural heritage – if foreseen in your project. You can see – for instance – one of the research projects we are carrying out with the cooperation of Italian Universities and Museums, AUGUSTUS (www.augustusgame.it), in which we are developing an immersive serious game to explore historical and archaeological aspects of 4 UNESCO sites in Sicily.
If you want to discuss any potential cooperation in the development of a project under this call for proposals or other similar opportunities, please do not hesitate to contact me at s.merlo@redraion.com
Kind Regards,
Sonia Merlo

We, ABERON OOD., a private Bulgarian research and consulting company have expertise in biodiversity protection and ecosystem services assessment. We have worked with the JRC on evaluating the direct and indirect benefits from Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) for wastewater treatment in urban areas and for flood retention. We are familiar with the legal aspects in designing green corridors, regenerating depleted urban areas and building vertical gardens.
A proposal under the above topic will require several aspects – urban planning (legislation), GIS, combatting pollution, social and economic benefits, why not clean energy production?
Based on the above, feel free to contact me on cveta.dimitrova@aberon.bg in order to discuss potential cooperation.
Bets regards,
Cveta
