In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the national control system is centralised and the Division for financing of EU Programmes and Projects – Central Financing and Contracting Unit (CFCU) within the Ministry of Finance and Treasury is the designated control body.

Control activities provided by CFCU are free of charge for the Bosnia and Herzegovina’s project partners. The Head of the CFCU, who is also Assistant Minister, will be the authorised official responsible for control function as well issuance of the Declarations on Validation of Expenditure (DVE) whereas the actual verification will be carried out by a number of his/her staff as determined by him/her. Each controller will be assigned the responsibility for the verification of a dedicated number of projects.
